What do the East and West Coasts Have in Common? Well, Nothing Really
1
November 6th, 2010About UsOkay, so those of you who have been following our blog religiously (or maybe even not-so-religiously
) may have noticed we have been a bit light on the blogging this past summer. But I can assure you, we have definitely not been slacking. In fact, Dani and I have both been busier than ever, and we both have had some very exciting changes in our lives.Let’s start with me. A couple of months ago (let’s see now… mid-August maybe?) I left my job, family, and friends in sunny California to go to grad. school and get my MBA degree, with a focus in marketing and sports business, at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Though I’ve only been here for about 2.5 months, I already love DC, and the experience of being back in school is nothing short of amazing. ”But why DC? It’s not even close to the mountains?!” you might be asking. Well, come on, now, student = month long winter break! I can’t wait to travel around this winter and experience different mountains instead of calling just one my home, and I’m stoked to experience the East-Coast snowboard scene. My neighbor and good friend Miss Molly B. is now the proud owner of my surf board (which did, by the way, get a lot of use during my last few weeks out west). Of course I do miss California, but I’m sure 2 years in DC will fly by faster than I know it.
Then there’s Dani. Well, Dani had a big move as well, and unlike me who moved much further from the snow, Dani decided she wanted to be a whole lot closer to it… so she took her life to Salt Lake City! One of the great things about Salt Lake is that it is one of the few places where you can be close to the city and keep your real, professional job, while also being a 20 to 30-minute drive from some of the best slopes in the world. In other words, Dani is still a M – F black suit man slave, but now she can add weekend snowboard bum to her resume! And me? Well, for now I’m just a bum.
So there you go. Big changes for the both of us, but there’s one thing that’s definitely not changing, and that’s our love for snowboarding and commitment to sharing our tips and experiences via Westbound Boarder. In fact, we should be launching a brand new site very soon, developed by our awesome new web developer and friend Dave from Bold Friend Designs (check it out here! Thoughts?)
And my parting words for you this morning? Think snow!!! (And praise El Nina).
