My boyfriend’s a huge golfer.  He’s never snowboarded (oh trust me, that will change soon), and of course, I’ve never golfed (well, other than the few hours we spent at the driving range smashing balls into the forest below).  Anyway, we were talking this morning, and he said that golf’s “not like snowboarding, where you only have a few places to go.”  Um, do you know how many snowboard resorts there are in the US alone?!  I really don’t think many people do.  So I ambitiously bet him dinner that there’s probably more ski/snowboard resorts than golf courses.  Anyone want to help me out with this one?

UPDATE: Ok, so I lost this bet miserably.  Just via a quick Google search, I came up with a number of about 492 for the US (from the NSAA), but I can’t seem to find the worldwide number.  Well, apparently there are 16,052 golf courses in just the US (as of 2005) and about 31 – 32K courses worldwide.  I guess I fell just a little bit short.
