We interviewed Chanel – commonly known as “The Rapping Receptionist,” on the hit MTV series “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” yesterday – and if you have not heard what this girl is up to it is time you educate yourself. • Art Show at Hurley HQ (Costa Mesa) Tonight: If you’re looking for something to do tonight (and you live in SoCal), head on over to the Hurley headquarters from 6 – 10 to check out the Greg Weaver Art Show – art, food, friends; sounds perfect to me!
• Ever seen a skateboarding bear? This week, Bordistan reports (via 9news.com) that a Bear was seen prowling the Snowmass skatepark.  When it was found Tuesday morning, the bear looked as if it had been there all night, so authorities on the scene dropped a ladder into the skatepark to give it a way to climb out.
• Transworld Catches Up with Torah Bright: As one of the most recognized female snowboarders right now, Torah’s well on her way to the 2010 Olympics.  This week, Transworld interviewed her on what she’s been up to and where she’s headed, as well as her new Roxy clothing line launching this fall.
• KFC Now Sells Marijuana, You Say? Yeah, you heard me right.  LA Weekly’s “Squid Ink” blog reports that an abandoned Kentucky Fried Chicken in Palms has been turned into a pot shop.  Though they took down the “official” logo, the name remains in tact (ah, but it now stands for “Kind for Cures”)  Thanks @nickmendoza for the tip on this one!  Gotta love LA…

Everyone knows that snowboarding and music go hand in hand, so as we ramp up for the upcoming season we have an exciting giveaway opportunity for our readers this week – a set of headphones from 2XL.

2XL is a new line of inexpensive headsets by Skullcandy, launched earlier this year.  There are six types of headsets with seven different unique styles and colors.  They sent us one of each model to try out and compare – We demoed one of each type of headset, and I have to say I really liked them all for different reasons.

• Groove: Basically, these headphones are like iPod headphones with adjustable active ear bude grips attachment that keeps them attached to your ear while moving.  They are perfect for running and exercising because they are light and fit nicely in your ear, while staying put.  Retail – $14.99
• Spoke: (Westbound Boarder favorite) By far my favorite set, this pair fits deep inside the ear and features noise insulation, in-ear acoustics and changeable gels to fit ears all shapes and sizes.  I love this set because the sound is great quality and cancels out most background noise around you so you can really focus on the music.  Plus, they are super comfortable.  Retail – $14.99 (pictured above)
• Brickyard: DJ-style headphone with over-ear design, comfort headband suspension and full dynamic acoustic range. The fit is a bit odd, but the sound is great (very full, and good base) and they are super light, so they’d be perfect for snowboarding if you like full surround sound.  Retail – $34.99
• Grid: Most like your typical, everyday set of headphones, this set features on-ear design, headband suspension and a dynamic acoustic range.  The sound isn’t as full as the Brickyard set, but still not bad.  Retail – $19.99
• Ratio: These headphones most resemble the typical, everyday set that comes with your iPod, with a silicone wrap.  The earpieces are a bitbigger so if you have smaller ears I’d recommend the Spokes, but you can’t beat the price.  Retail – $9.99
• 4 Corners: Similar to the Ratio but with square-shaped earpads.  I didn’t love the sound and fit as much as the others, but with square-shaped earpads, the look is super unique.  Retail – $19.99
