Westbound Boarder

Two years in the making, it is finally here! For me anyways as I get to check out the Art of Flight tomorrow night in Salt Lake City.

For those of you who don’t know, Art of Flight is a snowboard film, two years in the making with one hell of a line up; Travis Rice, John Jackson, Mark Landvik, Scotty Lago, Jake Blauvelt, Nicolas Muller, Gigi Ruf, DCP and Pat Moore. Apparently, the boundaries are pushed, redefining what is possible in the mountains. The Art of Flight takes us to the unexplored mountains in the remote corners of the world.

Don’t have plans this New Year?  No bother, because Red Bull and sponsored athlete Travis Pastrana are bringing you something special: Red Bull: New Year. No Limits.  This New Year’s Eve, Travis will attempt to break the world record for car distance jumping in Long Beach, CA.  Red Bull: New Year. No Limits will be televised on ESPN on Thursday, Dec. 31, right after the Chick-Fil-A Bowl (around 8pm PT).  But if you can make it in person, by all means, go!  Red Bull events are always a good time (check out our review of Red Bull Soapbox).  Here are the deets on ESPN.

You want a pair of wings on the slopes? Drink a Shred Bull and grow a pair!

A few weeks ago, we reported on Shaun White’s private half pipe by Red Bull, deemed “Project X.”  That’s right, Shaun has a secret half pipe in Colorado where he’s throwing down some of the sickest tricks around (okay Red Bull, we know Shaun’s great and all, but when’s the secret Westbound Border pipe coming??)  Red Bull just release a new, exclusive video of Shaun shredding the pipe, and it’s pretty awesome.  Check it out below!

As if snowboarding at 13,487 feet in the back country of Colorado’s San Juan range is not enough, imagine having your own, personal, private, secret halfpipe built there, exclusively for you. Well our dreams just so happen to be Shaun White’s reality as Red Bull is bringing the world Project X.

Project X and Red Bull have given White his very own, private, personal secret halfpipe. White has been hiding out and inventing a plethora of new pipe tricks for the whole world to see on Nov. 3rd at the secret halfpipe home page. Whats not a secret? The pipe is a 550-ft long Superpipe complete with perfect transitions and the first ever on hill foam pit at the bottom – giving White a glorious opportunity to broaden his already extensive resume of pipe tricks – in order to give his very real contender, Kevin Pearce a double cork for his money at the 2010 olympics.

• Ride With Vito: After a fab debut on TV show Dancing with the Stars, pro snowboarder Louie Vito’s bringing action sports to the living room’s of millions.  Now, Louie will be auctioning off a day of riding with him as a fundraiser plus a whole premium get-up, Lat34 reports.  Girls, get those bidding dollars ready!  The fundraising package will go to benefit the Park City Snowboard team.
• Shaun White is Awesome: Shaun’s so cool that Red Bull built him his own personal half pipe (and Web site to go along with it).  Check out Project X on ESPN.
